Ilchester will hold its annual Halloween celebration on Friday, October 28th. Please read the following information carefully so that you are fully informed about the day. This year the parade will be in the afternoon. Students may come to school dressed in their costume (over their clothes). The parade will take place at 2:00 p.m. followed by a small classroom party.
Our families are invited to join us outside for the parade that begins at 2:00 p.m., weather permitting. The parent viewing areas will be in the front of the school and all the way around to our blacktop area. Students will walk around the parade route once and then go back to their classrooms for the post Halloween activity. Students will re-enter the school through the gym doors. We will have cones and signs to identify these areas. All parents including room parents will not be permitted back into the building until all students are safely back in their classrooms following the parade. This will allow our students time to travel back to their classrooms. Parents who are entering the building to attend the post parade celebration must sign in and wear a visitor’s badge. If you are sending in a donation for the classroom parties, please be sure that these items are dropped off before the celebration.
COSTUMES: Because of the ongoing clown hoax, clown costumes will not be permitted for students or adults. We ask that parents help children to choose appropriate costumes. No weapons of any kind can be brought into school. No scary, inappropriate costumes and no masks or face coverings that inhibit the vision of a student will be permitted. Make up and hair dye cannot be applied at school. Parent or other adults joining the festivities as a volunteer or spectator must follow these same guidelines if they elect to dress in costume.
ALTERNATE ACTIVITY: We realize that some families do not celebrate Halloween. Please let your child’s teacher know if you prefer for your child not to participate in the Halloween activities. An alternative activity will be provided during the parade.
PARKING: As you know, parking is extremely limited at IES. Spaces may be available in the lot behind Bonnie Branch Middle School. We also are fortunate to have parking available at Camp Ilchester. It is crucial that we do not use the nine spaces in front of the camp store, as those are reserved for customers. We also ask that all parents and guests take notice of the “No Parking” signs posted on either side of our driveway. The bus loop will be “No Parking” zone beginning at 12:00 p.m. to allow for a smooth dismissal for students at Bonnie Branch Middle. Also, please be courteous to our neighbors and do not park on private lawns.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the case of inclement weather on October 28th, the parade will be cancelled and seasonal activities will continue as planned in the classroom. Students will still be able to wear their costumes to school. Should the parade be canceled, we will make every effort to notify you by 8:00 a.m. that day through the enews alert system.
We look forward to our wonderful parade and celebrating Halloween this year!
