I am proud to serve as the principal of Ilchester Elementary School. I am pleased to work with Mrs. Rook and our staff to further the education of every child. During my time with the Howard County Public School System, I have served as an elementary school teacher and administrator. I taught second and fifth grade at St. Johns Lane Elementary prior to my appointment as assistant principal at Triadelphia Ridge and then Swansfield Elementary School. At Ilchester, the mission is “…to create a safe and nurturing learning environment that meets the academic needs of all of our learners…” The family-school partnership is an integral part of accomplishing this goal. I welcome any comments, questions and/or feedback as we work together to provide the best learning environment possible for our students.

I am excited to continue to serve as the assistant principal of Ilchester Elementary School and to be a part of such a wonderful community! I look forward to our continued work together to provide our students with a safe, nurturing, and academically rewarding environment. This is my eighteenth year in education and my third as the assistant principal of this amazing school and community. I spent fourteen years working within the St. Mary’s County Public School System. I started my career as a classroom teacher, teaching second and then fifth grade. From there, I became an instructional resource teacher with responsibilities including providing training to teachers, analyzing school-related data, and providing reading support to students. I then served as an assistant principal for four years prior to moving away from the area. As an educator, I believe that we have to work together to support the emotional, social, and academic well-being of each student. I strongly support inclusive and differentiated practices within the classroom. Parental and community involvement is key when it comes to engaging our students in the learning process and assisting them in becoming productive and caring citizens. As part of the Ilchester team, I will work alongside Ms. Beaman and this staff to always do what is best for our students. I am delighted to be a part of such a caring and dedicated school community!
