CogAT for 3rd & 5th Graders

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is designed to measure a student's potential, not their academic achievement, and is used to determine placement in gifted and talented classes for grades four (mathematics) and six.  The CogAT will be given to all students in grades three and five at Ilchester Elementary on December 1, 2, and 3, 2015.  Students will be tested for approximately one hour on each of these days, in their homeroom classes during their normal mathematics class time.  If at all possible, please do not schedule appointments that will cause your child to miss school during those times on Dec. 1, 2, or 3.
The attached document contains answers to several frequently asked questions about CogAT.  After reviewing it, if you have further questions, you may feel free to contact the school.
